At NGA Screen Acting, we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all students, staff, and visitors. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we take all concerns seriously. This policy outlines our approach to safeguarding, including how to report concerns, our duty of care, and how we protect whistleblowers, victims, tutors, and the organisation.
This policy applies to:
- All staff, tutors, and volunteers at NGA Screen Acting.
- All students, including children, young people, adults, and vulnerable adults.
- Parents, carers, and any individuals engaging with NGA Screen Acting in person or online.
Safeguarding concerns may include but are not limited to: physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.
- Neglect or inadequate supervision.
- Grooming or exploitation, including online risks.
- Concerns about a student’s wellbeing, including mental health issues.
- Unsafe or inappropriate conduct by staff, students, or external individuals.
Behaviour and Etiquette Rules
- No Touching: Students must not touch another student without consent, whether in a scene or otherwise.
- Respectful Communication: When communicating with anyone from NGA Screen Acting – in class, online, or in the building – appropriate and respectful language must be used at all times.
- Performance Etiquette: It is not the responsibility of a student to direct another student’s performance in class unless specifically requested to do so by a tutor.
- Failure to comply with these rules may result in being asked to leave NGA Screen Acting effective immediately.
Reporting a Concern
- Students, parents, and staff can report concerns via email, phone, or in person to the DSL (Natalie Gavin – hello@nga-screenacting.co.uk).
- Online students should email hello@nga-screenacting.co.uk with concerns.
- All reports should be documented, including dates, times, and details of the concern.
